The provided bar chart intricately illustrates the distribution of individuals with and without science qualifications in two distinct countries, namely Malaysia and Singapore.

Overall, it is conspicuous that people with no qualifications in science are the highest in both Malaysia and Singapore, while Master’s degree holders are accounted for the lowest. Moreover, the percentage of the latter in both the countries are exactly the same.

It is noteworthy that a significant proportion of individuals in both countries lack qualifications in science. Approximately 65% of Malaysians fall into this category, with Singaporeans following closely at just 5% less. Conversely, those who have a Master’s degree in science in both countries are accounted to only around 3 percentage.

IELTS writing task 2. Youth and competitive sports

Reported for IELTS on 18/04/2024

Many young people do not enjoy competitive sports because they are afraid to losing. Therefore, youth should be banned from participating in sport competitions. Do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Model answer by Lifestyle Training Centre

In contemporary society, many young individuals display a reluctance to engage in competitive sports due to a pervasive fear of failure. While some advocate for the prohibition of youth participation in such activities, I vehemently oppose this notion. This essay will assert my standpoint and propose pragmatic solutions to address the issue of non-participation.

Primarily, excluding youth from competitive sports would render these activities devoid of participants. Competitive sports are inherently tailored for the energetic and resilient nature of young individuals. This is particularly evident in international competitions like hockey, football, and cricket. The idea of sending older individuals to represent their countries in such events is inconceivable, as they would undoubtedly be outmatched by the youthful vigour of competitors from rival nations. Consequently, the cessation of competitive sports would become inevitable if youth were barred from participation. For instance, even the most skilled athletes are retired once they surpass their prime, underscoring the indispensable role of youth in such endeavours.

To address this issue, pragmatic approaches should focus on providing comprehensive counselling to young athletes to alleviate their fear of failure and stigma. Access to professional and astute counsellors should be facilitated to assist young players in navigating these underlying challenges. Cultivating awareness of sportsmanship among youth would also play a pivotal role in mitigating the prevailing crisis of sports avoidance.

In conclusion, prohibiting youth participation in competitive sports due to their waning interest is impractical. These activities are intrinsically designed for young individuals, and pragmatic solutions such as counselling and fostering sportsmanship are far more viable. Youth must always be encouraged to embrace challenges, as they represent the cornerstone and promise of our future.

IELTS writing task 1. Foster Road alterations.

Q24. IELTS writing task 1 Map:Foster Road between SE 84th and 85th Avenue, before and after installation of wider sidewalks, a new crossing, bicycle lanes and street trees.

Model answer by Lifestyle Training Centre

The given maps illustrates in detail the changes that have come about on Foster Road, between SE 84th and 85th Avenue.

Overall, it conspicuous that a lot of alterations and additions have happened to the above mentioned locale, including expansion of sidewalks, addition of new crossing, provision for bicycling, as well as  integration of trees, adding comfort and shade.

Zooming in, this particular division of Foster Road did not have a single tree before. However, it, at present, is rich in the number of trees, pulchritudinously laid out on each side of the track. Interestingly, the existing pedestrian walks have been widened on each side, facilitating easier manoeuvring for pedestrian under the shade of the added trees.

The added bicycle lanes on each side of the road, next to the pedestrian walks make the road more versatile. Additionally, the zebra crossing added at the entrance of the road features safety.

OET LISTENING TESTS

Mrs. Lisa Bayliss  OET letter Model answer by Lifestyle Training Centre

Dr Jacob Kumar
Royal Darwin Hospital
Rocklands Drive, Tiwi
PO Box 41326, Casuarina NT 0811

22/01/2010

Dear Dr Kumar,
Re: Mrs. Lisa Bayliss,  06/01/1964

I am writing to refer Mrs. Bayliss, who is in need of assessment and palliative care. She is currently recovering from a grade 2 adenocarcinoma, which has metastasised to her lumbar spine.

On April 13, 2009, Mrs. Bayliss underwent various tests due to concerns about the possibility of breast cancer. Ultrasound confirmed the presence of a solid lump, and cytological examination revealed malignant cells. A core biopsy under local anaesthesia confirmed adenocarcinoma.

Subsequently, on May 4, 2009, Mrs. Bayliss underwent a local excision and axillary clearance, followed by radiotherapy to address residual tumour in her breast for local control. At that time, there was no evidence of metastases, and her hormone receptor status was negative. She was advised to undergo chemotherapy and regular review for metastasis as part of her post-operative recovery.

Today, Mrs. Bayliss reported a sudden onset of extreme, constant lower back pain, causing sleeplessness and loss of appetite, resulting in a weight loss of 4kg. The pain radiates down to major portions of her leg, and she exhibits no knee jerk reaction while her anterior thighs lack sensation. Assessment revealed metastases of the tumour to her lumbar spine.

Based on the above information, I kindly request an assessment and provision of palliative care for Mrs. Bayliss. She is scheduled to undergo a bone scan and CT scan of the chest and abdomen, as well as radiotherapy to manage the pain. If you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely,
Registered nurse.
