Model answer by Lifestyle Training Centre
The diagram illustrates the sequential stages involved in the natural production of honey by bees.
Overall, the process comprises four main phases, beginning with the collection of nectar from flowers and culminating in the transformation of this substance into honey through evaporation and storage within the hive.
To initiate the process, bees leave their hives to forage for nectar, a sugary fluid produced by flowering plants. After locating suitable blossoms, they extract the nectar and transport it back to the hive, carrying it on their bodies during flight. Upon returning, the bees deposit the gathered nectar into the hexagonal cells of the honeycomb.
In the subsequent stage, the bees position themselves above the filled cells and fan the nectar with their wings. This airflow facilitates the gradual removal of moisture from the liquid. Over time, once a sufficient proportion of water has evaporated, the substance thickens and eventually matures into honey. At this point, the final product is ready to be harvested and stored for human consumption.
